Arizona's wedding season runs almost opposite the rest of the country's — here's how the calendar actually breaks down, and how it affects your photos.

October Through April: Peak Season

Cooler, drier weather makes fall through spring the busiest stretch for Phoenix and Scottsdale weddings. Outdoor and desert ceremonies are far more comfortable in this window, and venues book up well in advance for the most popular dates.

May Through September: The Heat

Summer in the Valley is genuinely hot — outdoor ceremonies during peak daytime hours aren't comfortable for guests or wedding parties. Many summer weddings shift ceremony and portrait time later in the evening specifically to work around it, or move the ceremony indoors and save outdoor portraits for golden hour.

Golden Hour Is Non-Negotiable Either Way

Regardless of season, the hour before sunset is when Arizona's light is at its best — warm, soft, and flattering. We build timelines around it whenever possible, adjusting start times seasonally since sunset shifts by nearly two hours between summer and winter.

Sedona & Higher-Elevation Locations

If you're considering Sedona or higher-elevation locations, temperatures run noticeably cooler than the Valley floor — which opens up summer as a much more comfortable option for those specific locations even when Phoenix itself is at its hottest.
